SUMMER  POLE VAULT CAMP  Program

a POSITIVE...FUN...HIGH ENERGY atmosphere emphasizing a balanced fitness improvement and skill mastery via a program of the following related activities to the pole vault such as: PLYOMETRICS, GYMNASTICS, SPEED & STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT and TECHNIQUE ANALYSIS via VIDEO TAPING and COMPUTER ANALYSIS, plus COACHING TIPS after EVERY VAULT... and we do lots of vaulting.

We have two main sessions which are 3 to 4 hours in length.  One in the morning (9 to 1pm) and one in the evening (5-9pm).  At least half the session, or more, is focused on vaulting and the  rest of the session is oriented on drills or exercises that are directly related to skill development which ultimately leads to jumping higher down the road.

We have a big break (rest period) in the middle of the day when the temperature is the hottest.  We have an air-conditioned game room where the athletes can retreat to and play pool, video games, cards, darts, foosball, ping pong and various other games.  We also have 20' x 4' pool to cool down and kick around, which aids in the flushing of lactic acid  from the muscle regions and revitalization of muscle tissue for better session results.  We also encourage the vaulters to take power naps for rest and rejuvenation to the mind and body for best results during their camp stay.

The vaulting takes place in what we endearingly refer to as, "sherwood forest".  It is situated by a stream and and in the shade of many trees, which results in a temperature difference of about 15 to 20 (or even more) degrees, which aids in the overall endurance and success of the athletes to finish strong on the last two sessions of the camp, when the best results are most often seen.
